Cheers to 2018
This is the first year I've EVER stayed in on New Year's Eve - and I couldn't be more thrilled. We ordered Italian takeout and we're currently drinking Dom in bed recounting our incredible year together. Excited for what the next 12 months will bring...
The past year was all about adventure and experiences. From free-diving with sharks in Oahu to camel riding (and getting engaged!!) in Morocco, 2017 proved to be one heck of year for me. However, while exciting and memorable, the good life don't come cheap. All that fun involved a lot of spending, which leads me to my first resolution: save more $$.
My second focus for this year is self-care - and I mean beyond dropping a trillion pounds or doing a Soulcycle class paired with a 3-day juice cleanse. I want to incorporate a better skincare regimen (i.e. stop sleeping with makeup on) and treat myself to a facial every 6 weeks. I'd also like to take more vitamins on the reg and maybe stop drinking wine during the week (I said maybe). And since happiness is a major component of self-care, I plan on doing more little things that bring me bliss: ahem, facials and drinking wine, ideally in tandem; picnics on the sailboat, even when we can't take her out; sleeping in on a Sunday with my fiancé and pup; and did I mention facials?
And finally, I'd like to find balance. Cliché, I know, but I keep thinking that if I could somehow engage all my greatest qualities at once, my life would find perfect cadence. However, I recently discovered that balance isn't about doing it all, every day. It's about making a choice to do something (that brings you joy or fulfillment) and accepting that as a consequence you will fall short elsewhere. There is a cost benefit to directing your energy on a daily basis, so balance should be evaluated long term - and I'm giving myself 365 days.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
MAY 2018 BRING YOU FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS!
